Audiobooks at MES
The Elks are donating $1000 to help buy new audio books to MES!! Audiobooks are for kids who want to just listen instead of read. There are 300 audiobooks in our library counting the little kid books . We have discmen which are little CD players that you can sign out to listen to an audio book in our classroom. If you can’t read or sound out the word’s you can listen and when you are done with the book you can come to school and sign out another book. Audiobooks are important because kids who can’t say words they can listen and learn the word. It teaches new vocabulary words for their brain too. It also helps because if it’s not your level and it has big words in it, you’ll know how to pronounce bigger words and understand longer sentences. When you’re older, you’ll understand how to read longer chapter books.
There are lots of good places to listen to audio books, like the library or at your house. You can play in your bed and listen to them, or you can do activities while you listen. You can listen to them in the car with headphones or with your whole family on a road trip. If you don’t have a CD player at home, you can buy a portable CD player from the school. Then you can even listen to it on your bus ride home from school with headphones!
I think that audio books are great because they help you become a good reader. If you have an idea for new audio books that you think our school should buy, please send in a note with your child.
