Online Learning Program

The Peace River School Division (PRSD) will be offering an At-home Online Learning Program for students in Grades 1-9 for the 2021-2022 school year.  Requests to enrol in the At-home Online Learning Program will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the school principal.  Approved requests will then be forwarded to the PRSD District Principal for final approval (subject to space availability).  Two teachers have been hired centrally to support the program; a grade one to six teacher and a grade seven to nine teacher.  The two teachers will provide instruction and support to students in the At-home Online Learning Program under the supervision of the PRSD District Principal.    Regular classroom teachers will no longer be responsible to provide online learning in addition to in-person classes unless the nature of the pandemic changes and the Alberta government directs school boards to move to the Scenario 3 Relaunch Plan (At-home learning), or when students temporarily have to self-isolate because they are close contacts to positive cases.

While some students may have thrived in at-home online learning during the pandemic, feedback received from approximately 100 PRSD teaching staff (through an internal survey) strongly indicates significantly lower engagement levels, and challenges experienced among students.
